The original St Patrick’s Anglican Church, Dorie. Opened on May 23, 1901 on land donated by Henry Harrison who had arrived in New Zealand from County Wexford, Ireland in 1876. The font was donated by the Lyttleton Parish and is believed to be from Lyttleton’s first Holy Trinity church, the first church in Canterbury.

The new St Patrick’s Church, was dedicated on March 16, 1969, replacing the earlier church. Many of the fittings from the first church were incorporated. A new altar was carved from pear wood. It is one of only two Mid Canterbury churches to have its own cemetery. The Dorie War Memorial is also on the church grounds
