Safeguarding

The message of the Gospel is that all people are valuable human beings who should be safe, loved, cared for, respected, and protected. We know that churches around the world have not lived up to this. We want our churches and communities to be place where all people can feel safe, can discover and grow, and find meaning and belonging.

Supporting the people of our communities is important to us. The Anglican Church has structures in place to ensure all people are protected and any matters of harm are taken seriously and responded to appropriately.

If you are feeling unsafe or have concerns for yourself or another, we encourage you to seek support.

You may wish to speak to one of our ministers or parish wardens.

The Diocese of Christchurch has a Safeguarding Officer (who is not a member of the Anglican Church) to support anyone with information, and complaints processes.

All complaints are received by the National Ministry Standards Registrar, who is independent of our parish churches.

More information of safeguarding, including how to make a complaint, is available on the Christchurch Diocese website Safeguarding - Anglican Life

Our ministers are available to provide pastoral care to any member of the community, including support to access other agencies or support services.
